North Carolina’s Senior House Democrat Supports Impeaching President Trump – Where Does Cal Cunningham Stand?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Congressman David Price, North Carolina’s senior House Democrat, yesterday announced that he will vote to impeach President Trump. With the House Judiciary Committee expected to advance articles of impeachment today, North Carolinians are wondering whether Cal Cunningham, who has refused to take a stand on the issue, will follow suit.

“Cal Cunningham has spent this entire race trying to hide from all of the radical positions of his party, and impeachment is no different,” said Tillis campaign spokesman Andrew Romeo. “It’s time for silent Cal comes clean to North Carolinians about his support for putting partisan theatrics over conducting the business of the American people.”

Cunningham called for an impeachment inquiry during his first major interview of the race and has said that President Trump “abused his power.” His Democratic primary opponent Erica Smith, who is leading him in the polls, confirmed last week that she supports impeachment.

Senator Tillis said this week that he is a “definite no” on impeachment.
